Chelsea House Gallery London Pop up show at The Waterloo Vaults

On the 18th April 2024 I had a pop up show which was hosted by Chelsea House Gallery at the London Waterloo Vaults. The owner of Chelsea House Gallery, Ali Nakeeb had discovered my work on Instagram and flew over for a studio visit to see my work in person back in February. It was then that we agreed that he would host a one night exhibition in April for both myself and Margate based artist Timothy Midnight.

I spent the next 3 months creating 9 pieces for the show with varying canvases ranging from 72cm x 72cm to 102cm x 102cm in size with covering a range of contemporary themes. It was a big push to get everything ready for the night but we managed to get everything across the water just on time.

As always there were pre match nerves but the night was a huge success with around 150 guests across the evening, with all three of us bringing along clients, friends and family. We both sold multiple pieces on the night. Sales of mine included No Risk No Story, Midnight Madness, World on Fire and Be Free.

Below is a little more on the Chelsea House Gallery as well as a write up of Timothy Midnight and myself from Ali Nakeeb:

Chelsea House supports emerging and mid-career artists to reach wider audiences. Predominantly showcasing our work online, we also present our artists at pop up events in London where we aim to exhibit a variety of art work at various price points.

We take pride in sourcing and selling a variety of contemporary works on behalf of private clients as well as offering a personalised acquisition service, assisting clients to build investment portfolios of highly reputable artwork.

Chelsea House also offers an advisory service on art and antiques, picture framing, restoration, and storage.

Our team has several years’ experience in the art and antiques world, culminating in a network of reliable connections and excellent customer service.

Timothy Midnight:

Timothy Midnight, originally from Idaho, USA is an artist and drummer of indie rock band Nick Diver. Timothy works between Margate in Kent and East London. Timothy has a unique style of painting using varying layers, thick impasto and swift brush strokes, bringing a 3D effect to his work, whilst adding depth and texture.

‘Cats Who Smoke’ is the alias used by Timothy for his art. Each cat symbolises the hip, trendy and edgy side of the creative community that now plays centre stage in Margate.

Niall Conlon:

The former professional rugby player and Cambridge Blue left a lucrative career in the City of London’s financial district to follow his inner calling to become an artist.

Niall grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His dynamic and though provoking pieces reflect his hometown’s urban life and social dynamics, merging chaos and order in mixed media works that resonate with viewers.

Conlon frequently builds up layers of paint, collage materials and text on his canvases, creating a textured complex surface. This layering ads depth and meaning to his works.

His expression of his interior world brings to mind artists from the great American tradition such Basquiat & De Kooning.
